Hurricane Irene
Posted: August 31, 2011 Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: hurricane irene Leave a comment »Having served in the National Guard after hurricane Katrina I can empathize with everything our American brothers are going through after hurricane Irene. We will definitely be donating to charities helping those displaced and affected by this horrible natural disaster.
I remember landing in New Orleans and seeing the devastation. It shocked me and frankly made me more proud of serving domestically and directly helping the American People.

Newest Project hauling dirt and uprooting a plant.
Posted: August 27, 2011 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a comment »A few days ago I did an estimate for job I am actually quite excited about. As many of the people that know me may know I LOVE really physically demanding work. This particular job will involve us digging the dirt down about 12″ as well as hauling the dirt.
In addition to hauling the dirt away we will be removing the remnants of an old tree. I anticipate we will have to use a pick axe and an axe to free the once life sustaining roots of the now deceased tree.
The dirt did not seem excessively heavy so I am expecting to be able to haul about 6 cubic yards at a time.
Expect me to post some pictures once the project is underway.

Today’s job, Hauling dirt up stairs YEEEHAW!
Posted: August 19, 2011 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a comment »Well today we did a job in the sunset district of San Francisco. The job involved hauling some dirt from the front yard (no problem) and then haul some dirt from the back yard. This involved going over stairs. Hauling it in buckets would have taken forever and going up the stairs with a wheelbarrow would have been a night mare. What did we do?
We set up our aluminum ramp up on set of steps and then set up a good SOLID redwood plank up the other set of stairs. Needless to say it was a hard job but it was a great work out. One thing I love about hauling dirt and concrete is the great way it makes your body feel after the job. If you lift, twist and bend properly hard work should not be back breaking. It should feel like a work out.
Why I hate the “green” word
Posted: August 16, 2011 Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: green, green washing Leave a comment »To me it just seems like every marketer has taken the word “green” and turned it into a keyword for a quick sale or profit. Since I was a kid I used to sit and watch an 90′s show named captain planet. It was a great show it was about a superhero that helped stopped polluters. Ever since, the environment has always been a concern of mine.
It always bothers me when I see businesses claiming to be green when the greenest thing about the business is the color of the sign on the window. I definitely love that people are more aware of environmentally sound business practices however I believe that stamping “green business” all over the place is not the way to be “green”.
To me being environmentally friendly is about doing our part in reducing waste not just bragging and boasting hoping to entice customers by false or exaggerated claims.
When I started my business I was the first hauling company in the San Francisco bay area to run their trucks on 100% biodiesel. That’s right even the city of san francisco didn’t do such a thing. No one else can claim the same. We didn’t just run some super low blend in order to claim to run biodiesel we ran on 100% biodiesel made from RECYCLED vegetable oil.
Dirt or Concrete Hauling
Posted: August 14, 2011 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a comment »If you have recently done some landscaping and need to get rid of dense material like dirt or concrete count on us to get the job done. It’s hard work but someone has to do it. We charge by the yard and charge a flat rate. We use wheelbarrows, skidsteers (bobcats) and in areas with bad access (many houses in san francisco) we have to carry the dirt or concrete in cans.
Regardless of how complex or tiring the task may seem it doesn’t hurt to give us a call for a free estimate. 415-347-1494
When we arrive at your home or business we will assess the situation, we will quote you a price. If you are comfortable with our rate we can begin work at that time. We will shovel the dirty or concrete into our trucks and be on the way.
What do we do with the material? Well our first option is to attempt to rehouse the dirt (if its free of contamination). If we cannot get someone to re home your dirt we landfill the dirt. Many people who do landscaping or need to backfill an area take dirt from us so our success rate is pretty good.
Concrete is hauled off and taken to a recycling center where it is crushed and used as base rock for roads and other projects.
